The Alan Woods Collection

Alan Woods was an editor, visual artist and critic whose untimely death last year at the age of 43 robbed Scotland of one its finest talents.  Woods had a passion for art and, on a modest budget, collected the work of many contemporary artists.  So here is a rare chance to see, under the same roof, work by R.B. Kitaj, Will Maclean, Fred Stiven, Callum Innes and many others.

Liz Ogilvie

Liz Ogilvie has always had a poetic and spiritual affinity for the sea.  In this installation Ogilvie uses the reflective qualities of water as a metaphor for self-exploration.  If this approach doesn't grab you, then simply watching the patterns created on the galleries walls is equally rewarding!

Words and Things

For something rather more metropolitan and funky, try visiting the newly revamped Centre for Contemporary Arts.  Here New Yorker Matt Dion implicitly compares the vastness of geological time to the everyday cares of the art world. And Glasgow based Simon Starling — best described as an artistic alchemist —  has changed a Daihatsu van into aluminium lamp….
